USE OUR TRANSPORT TO THE EVENT

View list of Coach Bookings here and check that your details are correct

Please read & print these notes and then use the online booking button at the bottom.

We are organising optional transport on Friday evening, which will carry you directly to the Event Centre with the option to return on Sunday. If in due course you wish to book on one of the coaches, complete the online booking form by 11th JUNE LATEST so that we can schedule the coaches to meet your requirements. Details of those who have booked are displayed immediately on the website. Please check that this information is accurate. If there are any changes or you have decided not to use the transport, please inform us at martin@lamm.co.uk. to avoid us waiting for someone who isn't going to turn up. Final coach details will be displayed here by 13th June. Our Coach Manager, Andy Scott will try to ensure that connections are kept with late-running trains, coaches and flights, so long as we are made aware that people are arriving on them. In case of emergency, Andy's mobile number is 07940 237343.

There will be a walk of about 2KM from where the transport drops you off to the Event Centre. You will need to have a largish rucksack available so that you can carry everything you need for the weekend to the Event Centre. You are recommended to bring two tents and leave your basecamp tent erected during the weekend.

FROM GLASGOW FRIDAY 17th JUNE
Do not confuse Glasgow Airport with Prestwick Airport, which is 1 hour to the SW of Glasgow. If you do fly to Prestwick and wish to use our transport you will need to catch a train into the centre of Glasgow. There will be one coach from Glasgow. Please don't make bookings on trains/buses that get to Glasgow later than 19:00 or planes that get to Glasgow Airport later than 19:30.

Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station - Coach Departs at 19:30 for Glasgow Airport
There will be one special coach from Glasgow (journey time 2.5 hours)
. If you will be arriving at the airport some hours before the coach departs, you could take an airport shuttle bus to Glasgow Bus Station, spend the day in town and then join our coach at Buchanan Bus Station rather than the airport. The bus station is situated in Killermont Street near to Glasgow Queen Street Railway Station and is less than 15 minutes walk from Glasgow Central Railway Station. Please note that the coach will NOT be calling at a railway station. The coach will be standing at Tour Stand nr 23, sited at the far end of the bus station opposite the main building. You should be able to locate Andy Scott, our marshal, who will be wearing a bright yellow LAMM bib, a few minutes before the departure time. Also we expect the coach to be marked with LAMM or Lowe Alpine MM and it is possible that some information will be provided on the overhead displays. In case of emergency such as late running transport or if you are on the list but will not be requiring the transport, please contact Andy Scott, our marshall on mobile number 07940 237343 to discuss the options.

Glasgow Airport - Coach Departs at 20:00 for the Event Centre
Our meeting point will be close to one of the Airport Information Desks. Look for the desk situated on the Ground Floor near to Domestic Flight Baggage Reclaim. If you arrive on an International flight, you will need to proceed to this area after you have reclaimed your bags. Our marshal will be wearing a bright yellow LAMM bib and will arrive with the coach from Buchanan Bus Station - so don't be concerned if the marshal does not appear until a few minutes before the coach departure time (or later if the coach is delayed). Our marshal will lead you to where the coaches are required to await incoming flights.

TO GLASGOW SUNDAY 19th JUNE
Our transport will leave the Event Centre at 16:00 not 14:00 as was documented earlier, calling at Glasgow Airport, Glasgow Central Railway Station and finally at Glasgow Buchanan Coach Station. Allow 45 minutes to walk from the Event Centre to the coach. THE PICK UP POINT ON SUNDAY WILL BE VERY CLOSE TO THE DROP OFF POINT ON FRIDAY. If you are not there on time you will miss the coach, as there is no significant margin for delay. If you miss the transport you will need to try to hitch a lift in a car leaving the venue. This should not be too difficult. Please don't book onward transport from Glasgow before 19:30.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU MISS A COACH
This is not a disaster as long as you REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR DRIVER'S LICENCE AND A CREDIT CARD! There are a number of car hire firms situated at Glasgow and Inverness airports, within a short walk of the terminal building. They ALL close at about 22:00. Weekend rates are reasonable and you should expect to pay an all-inclusive price of about £70 per economy car for 48 hours from Friday evening -> Sunday afternoon. Check the damage excess when you hire a car. Look out for other LAMMers in the same predicament so that you can share a car between two teams. If you are stuck in the centre of Glasgow we suggest that you catch the airport shuttle bus from Buchanan Bus Station to the airport where you can hire a car. Buses run approximately every 30 minutes and take 25 minutes.

FLY DRIVE: The deals available at the moment from the budget airlines are truly fantastic. We have a special page on the website devoted to helping those who arrive early on the Friday by plane to be put in touch with others who might like to share a hire car rather than wait for our coach transport. Useful online booking websites include: www4.flybe.com  www.flybmi.com www.ryanair.co.uk www.britishairways.com  www.easyjet.com

HOT TIP - CARRY YOUR PACKED EVENT SACKS AS HAND LUGGAGE. A few years ago, Sabena Airline mislaid the hold luggage of a pair from Holland. They turned up at the event without any kit and were unable to participate - a disaster for them and a lesson to be learned. Even on domestic flights you should now carry your passport or some other form of photo identification.

GAS CANISTERS: You cannot carry these canisters on an aircraft. Please contact Compass Point so that they can bring the right type of gas canister to the event for you. Contact Rick Houghton at rick@compasspoint-online.co.uk or telephone 01253 795597. You can also order goods online via the LAMM online shop at www.lamm.co.uk.

MANAGE A COACH: If you live in the Glasgow area and in return for free transport would be prepared to 'manage' a coach, please contact martin@lamm.co.uk.
