LAMM WEATHER FORECAST
Kindly Provided by David Braine at the BBC Weather Centre

Updated Evening 6 June 2008

Synoptic situation at 1200 Saturday 12th June:

A ridge of high pressure will bring mainly dry and settled conditions on Saturday, although the odd shower is possible but these are very isolated and mainly for the mountain tops. A weather front lying west of Ireland will arrive across the area by 0900am on Sunday and this will push cloud and outbreaks of rain through the area. This is now a little faster to clear so the risk of overnight patchy rain and hill fog on Saturday is increased.

Saturday:

Weather
Misty with hill fog at first quickly improving to brighter conditions and sunny spells with showers developing for the higher peaks and then die away through the afternoon. Overnight patchy light rain or drizzle as well as hill fog moves across the area

Visibility

Moderate and as low as 200 metres in extensive hill fog at first. Otherwise becoming mostly good by late morning and tending to improve very good through the day but 5-6km in showers.

Cloud base

Initially broken or overcast base 500 to 800 metres, then scattered cover around 1200 metres in the morning, especially in the west. Between late morning and mid afternoon lowering 800-1000m in showers.

Wind and temperature at 1000m

S/SW 10 to 15kts increasing steadily to 20 or 25kts by evening. Temperatures 4-5C increasing 7-8C by evening

Freezing level

Well above summits

Sunday:

Weather
A cloudy start with patchy rain, drizzle and hill fog. However, skies should steadily brighten and the cloud lift, occasional sunny spells through the afternoon and early evening. Soon mostly dry but there could be an isolated shower.

Visibility/cloud base

Moderate or poor at first with hill fog becoming mainly good. Broken or overcast at 300 to 600m becoming scattered 900 to 1200m.

Wind and temperature at 1000m

W or SW  20 to 30 miles per hour, temperatures  7-8C dropping 4-5C as front clears

GOOD LUCK
