LAMM 2002 - Final Details
This Supplements the Event Details
PLEASE NOTE YOUR COMPETITOR NUMBER, WHICH IS
DISPLAYED ON THE TEAM LIST PAGE. YOU SHOULD
ALSO BRING THE FULL EVENT DETAILS WITH
YOU.
ANNOUNCEMENT
OF THE VENUE This will take
place at 15:00hrs on Thursday 13th June
and for those who don't want to camp at
the Event Centre we will list some useful
telephone numbers and websites to help
locate accommodation.
EVENT
T & SWEAT SHIRTS, ALSO DRYFLO This
year we will offer another eye-catching
design created by Stuart Brown of Kendal
and printed onto iris tee shirts and lead
sweat shirts. The garments will be the
same price as last year - tees are £10
and the sweats are £16. In addition
we will also provide a special edition
Lowe Alpine Dryflo tee shirt bearing
the LAMM 2002 logo on the shoulder. These
will be available in blue heather
(particularly for the ladies) and also
in orion at a very attractive price
of £16.
The
garments can be purchased during the weekend
in the marquee and should these sell out,
a mail order list will be compiled and
items despatched by the end of July.
HIRING
A CAR The web page "Share
Car Hire" is now active at www.lamm.co.uk
and will help you to share any seats in
a hire car with those who you never knew
were on the same flight as you. Visit
the page now if you want to share the
hire of a car.
ARRIVING
AT THE LAMM When you park at
the event location those arriving first
will in general park furthest away but
there will be a temporary parking area
fro those heading off to accommodation.
Be prepared to carry your kit to the Event
Centre & camping area in a rucksack.
The route will be dry and a maximum of
1.5KM, all depending on where you are
parked. Wilfs will be present to
feed you and Compass Point will
provide kit for the event. Sorry -
no dogs are permitted at the event.
SPORTident
SI Card We will be using the
SPORTident system again this year. Those
who are hiring an SI Card will receive
one card per team at registration while
those of you who are using your own must
present it at registration so that we
can confirm the card number. Your Si Card
will be attached loosely to your wrist
using a tamper proof wrist strap. This
will remain attached all weekend and be
cut off you either when you finish or
if you retire. If you lose or take a hire
card home with you the charge will be
£17.50. This is one reason
why we are now using these wristbands
for non-orienteering events of more than
2 hours duration. Also you will quickly
get used to carrying the card on your
wrist. Wrists do swell during exercise
and providing you have attached the card
loosely, you will hardly notice that you
are wearing overnight.
SATURDAY
MORNING A very early start
for many but we think you will feel it's
worth it. The recommendation is to carry
some breakfast and drink with you on the
way to the start. If you are not staying
at the Event Centre on Friday night your
start won't be quite so early.
THE
EVENT Maps
(2 per team) are 31x27 inches and
will be handed out on the way to the start.
Maps are not waterproof so please ensure
that you take a 24x18inch map bag with
you and if the weather is really bad we
suggest that you save one map for use
on the second day. Also carry some money
with you (a note) in case you get stranded
miles from the Event Centre.
MERCHANDISE
18"x24" map bags, red fine waterproof
pens, midge repellent, Blizzard Packs,
videos of Jura 1997, the handbook "Mountain
Navigation For Runners" by Martin
Bagness (at a special event price of £4)
and maps from previous events. Additional
maps from LAMM 2002 may also be purchased
at the end of the event.
